Africa Literacy Training Institute, Abokobi

Ghana - September 24 – October 14, 2017

  • Literacy and Evangelism-Ghana (LE-GH) in cooperation with Literacy and Evangelism International (LEI) in Oklahoma, USA, will offer a joint literacy training for Individual Christians, representatives of Churches, National Bible Societies and other Christian Organizations who are interested in such a Lit-eracy Training. The course will be offered in both French and English and will focus on practical issues such as:
  •  How to teach literacy classes using the LEI method and primers.

     How to mobilize churches for literacy and use of scriptures in local languages.

     How to train literacy tutors and coordinators.

     How to develop literacy activities, primer construction, literacy workshops, etc..

     How to monitor and evaluate literacy programs.

  • As an outcome of the course, we anticipate that each participant will help churches and community organizations to establish literacy networks with a view to starting literacy programs in the languages which have had the Scriptures translated into such languages. VENUE: Presbyterian Women's Centre, Abokobi, Accra, Ghana.
  • DATES: September 24 – October 14, 2017

    CRITERIA: The course is specifically for Literacy Managers, Literacy Officers and Literacy Coordina-tors. However, consideration will be given to Research Officers, Translation Officers or other staff who have literacy/new reader as at least 50% of their work assignment, and to Christian Workers who would like to be involved in Literacy Ministry. All participants must cover the cost of their travel to/from Accra, plus a non-refundable application fee of US $ 30.00 to cover miscellaneous costs. Total cost per person is: US $855. (essentially for food and accommodation), plus the non-refundable appli-cation fee of US $ 30.00.
